NEW STUDENT TIPS: 12 ideas to give you a head start; via the Student Support Team

Over at the Student Support Team’s Twitter account we’ve been posting a bunch of tips for new students as we think of them, so here they are:

  • There’s 4000+ new students who are feeling just as nervous – it’s OK, we’re here to help :-)
  • Make sure you score an Earle Page discount card during Orientation – heaps of discouts for $20 (for a great cause)
  • Register for the New England Award (looks great on your CV!) …
  • A-Z listing of everything on the UNE website (might fill in some gaps) ..
  • Check out the Student Support Team’s funky campus map ..
  • Never too early to start on your post degree Career planning ..
  • Studying on campus or coming to an Intensive School? Here’s how to get on the wireless network…
  • How to submit your assignments…
  • Wondering how much time to devote to your studies? Here’s the answer: 10-12hours/Unit/Week
  • Get to know the Academic Skills Office – awesome & vids on writing/researching
  • Check out our Youtube Channel for some great tips/tricks and workarounds ..
  • A degree is a journey and not a destination .. enjoy it! Oh and make sure you ask for help whenever you need it :-)

      A suggestion from a serial student – any first years who are feeling nervous (or even if they aren’t) should take advantage of the peer support program. It is a great service to assist new students with settling into life at UNE by having a contact person who can point them in the right direction when they need help.
