    So legislation requires financial institutions to send loan statements to borrowers … but now people who borrow money from the government don’t get the same courtesy unless they ask for it?

    Being a pessemist, my first thought is, this is a delay tactic so you wont know until you go to lodge your tax return just how much you still owe and whether you can have deductions by your employer ceased.

    More money for the Tax Office (ie. Govt Coffers) even if just on a 12 month basis.
