INTENSIVE SCHOOL: Receptions for off-campus students are back!
If you’ve been at Uni as an off campus student for a while you might remember spending a bit of time catching up with staff and students at the old ‘External Receptions’. I certainly have some great memories of those events and the good news is they’re back.
Monday 14 September 2009 / Thursday 17 September 2009 / Monday 21 September 2009 / Friday 25 September 2009.
Thanks to Wayne Kratz and the crew at Services UNE you’ve now got an excuse to have a bit of fun at the September Intensive Schools. Here are the full details from Wayne …
“Not so long ago many External Students and their lecturers enjoyed an “External Reception” held of a night in the Bistro during residential schools. For this coming Intensive School period Services UNE would like to revive those nights.
Listed below are the four dates that External Receptions will be held during the next three weeks. It is proposed to open the Bistro between 4.30pm and 9pm on those nights.
External Students attending will be offered a free drink to start the night. Lecturers who attend with a minimum of 4 students will receive a bottle of wine to share with their students. During the night we will have free raffle draws, trivia and a free sausage sizzle. A bus will be provided at 9pm to the colleges and town for those requiring transport at that time. The last Edwards bus from the Northern Car Park is at 7.05pm.
To be successful we need your help by (a) attending for all or part of the evening if possible, and (b) encouraging your students to attend.
We would appreciate you advising your students by whatever means you have available (email, blackboard, notices etc) and by reminding them on the actual days of the “External Receptions”
If we can make these nights successful we can build on them for future Intensive Schools.”

Hi Mary
we tried to get dates when the most students would be in their second day on campus. Sorry we missed you this time -hopefully these will be SO successful we can run them more frequently in the future.
Cheers
Alicia
I am an external with no res schools this semeseter. I have just moved to the area and would be interested in attending if any other local externals would be there.
Hi Belinda, I’m sure there are other local off campus students who will be there … might be worth attending.
