NEW ‘OFF CAMPUS’ STUDENTS: Getting started; things to do
Posted on July 20, 2009 by ED
If you’re a new off campus student, we know it can be frustrating not to be able to access your Unit materials until the 27th (when Units actually open for study). But there’s quite a few things you can do to get up to speed with the Uni systems prior to starting:
- Complete a Tertiary Literary Assesment (and go into the draw to win an Ipod): This will enable you to determine your personal strengths and weaknesses in the areas of academic writing; information literacy (research skills); basic maths and statistics; and computer and internet skills. (From the Academic Skills Office)
- Have a look at the UNE Support Youtube Channel: Great tips and tricks to excel at your studies. (From the Student Support Team).
- Have a listen to the Library Podcasts: The Library has put together a bunch of resources to help you get started (From the Dixson Library).
- Order your textbooks (via United Campus Bookshop): It might sound silly, but the longer you leave it, the longer your books will take to arrive.
- Befriend Ed UNE on Facebook: Yep, the Student Support Team has an account there too! Simply search for Ed UNE or studentexperience@une.edu.au.
