IT: Things to do if you’re having difficulty accessing MyUNE/Blackboard etc
I just had a chat with Michael at the IT Helpdesk about a student who was having trouble accessing MyUNE and her online learning materials … if you’re in that situation, here’s a list of things to try …
If you have any anti-spyware, pop-up blocking or firewall software installed you may like to check that sites ending or containing ‘une.edu.au’ are ‘allowed’ or ‘trusted’. You may even like to disable the program and try and access the page. Programs like Google Toolbar and Yahoo Toolbar etc can also cause problems opening some pages so you might like to try and configure them or disable them.
You can also try clearing the cache and all offline files from your computer by:
>Clicking on the ‘Tools’ menu in Internet Explorer
>Selecting ‘Internet Options’
>Click on ‘Delete Cookies’ and ‘Delete Files’ (select ‘Delete all offline content’) and click ‘OK’ for each confirmation
>Then click on the ‘Content’ tab, and click on the ‘Auto Complete’ button
>Click on ‘Clear Passwords’ and ‘Clear Forms’ and confirm ‘OK’ for each
>Click on the ‘Clear SSL State’ buttonThis should remove all temporary files on your computer that aren’t needed and may be causing issues.
If you are still having issues you can also try downloading and installing a new browser like Firefox from: http://www.mozilla.com
If all of the above haven’t worked for you, I would suggest checking all of your program settings again, restoring any security settings in IE to default and going to this site which may indicate the cause of the problem: http://www.une.edu.au/portal/browser_test/
And if all that fails, give the IT Helpdesk a call (02 6773 5000) or send them an email (helpdesk@une.edu.au)
