ON-CAMPUS STUDENTS: Expressions of interest sought now from students who would like to participate in the “Sex and Ethics” program during Term 3

During Term 3 (late July through to early September) Student ASSIST will be running a program called “Sex and Ethics”- Young people and ethical sex – developed by Prof. Moira Carmody from UWS, in conjunction with Karen Willis from the NSW Rape Crisis Centre. The program introduces young people to an ethical framework, and to a range of skills to help them negotiate mutually respectful, safe, consensual relationships – the program looks at the why, why not, where, when, who with, who not with, etc of sexual encounters. The program recognises that participants will have varied sexual lives and, therefore, includes a range of exercises that DO NOT require personal disclosures from participants, are fun, but also challenging and thought provoking. The program also looks at how to be an ethical bystander and friend.

The program will be run over 6 consecutive weeks in third term. Depending on the level of interest shown, we may run separate groups for males and females, or possibly a mixed gender group. If you are a student aged between 16 to 25, and are interested in being a part of this program, please email me at asteven2@une.edu.au. I will then place your name on a list of possible participants and will email more information about the program as we get closer to finalizing times, days, venues, etc. The program will be run as part of a research study that has UWS ethics approval. Participants would be required to attend an information session about the study/progam. Details about information sessions will be emailed to you in due course.
Looking forward to your interest,

Annette,

Senior Counsellor, Student Assist
