Cash up over the summer break @ Moonrocks …

If you are considering seasonal work over the semester break (November-February) you may be interested in working at a property called Moonrocks in the St George Queensland area. As it is located some 550km (7 hour drive) from Armidale you would need a car for transport. However it would be possible for 3-4 people to share expenses as there is plenty of work at Moonrocks.  Moonrocks grow melons, onions, cotton, garlic, sweet onions, pumpkins and watermelons
Moonrocks prides itself on melding old fashioned hard work with pride of a job well done. Its best employees have shown commitment, loyalty and passion for the rural industry.


Moonrocks is one of St George’s largest employers and during the summer season they hire field pickers, shed packers, general staff, machinery operators, grape pickers, cart crews, Quality Assurance positions, shed managers and supervisors, truck drivers and Dispatch supervisors.

Before arriving at Moonrocks consider the following; Where applicable, you must have a legal working visa, no exceptions
Must have an Australian Bank account. Please note pay is via Electronic Funds Transfer ONLY. There are rare banking facilities open beyond 4.30pm 5 days a week. It is advisable to have keycard for use in ATM’s. All employees must have an Australian Tax File Number or have applied for an Australian Tax File Number.
Work in melon, grape, onion, harvest begins October/ November and preference is given to those who can commit to the entire season, which can run to as late as February for some crops.
The work requires a level of physical fitness, common sense, tolerance of Western Queensland heat and ability to work long hours.
DO not arrive in St George without having called prior. There is no guarantee of work.
Moonrocks itself has BASIC accommodation for about 60 people with no shops etc. Others are required to stay in St George – some 20km away. Employment is under an Enterprise Agreement starting at $15.80 per hour.
