‘BIAFRA: LESSONS FROM THE NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR: Is this the unique case where the losers got to write history ?’

At the end of the 1960s, Biafra was the first case of televised mass starvation beamed into our sitting rooms winning world-wide sympathy. Yet, in reality, the Biafran leaders were fantastic Madison Avenue publicists who arguably let their children starve in support of a foredoomed cause.

This Seminar will evaluate both sides of the debate and discuss the use of starvation as a weapon of war.
