It’s time for you to talk to me…

One of the best aspects of my job is getting a chance to talk to students about the reasons  they have undertaken their courses, their aspirations, their inspirations and ways they have dealt with the sometimes difficult issues of time management, family commitments and lack of motivation. If you would like to talk about your experiences as a Distance Education student I would love to hear from you. I will be collecting written testimonials, (up to 200 words) and conducting telephone interviews (to use as podcasts) over the next few months. If you are interested you can add your comments to this blog or email directly mduncan3@une.edu.au

  1. Hi Meredith. I am a 36 year old mother of 4, who is finally doing primary teaching after ummming and arrring about it for years. I work as a chaplain at a high school a few days a week, which I love. I have 3 kids at school, with my baby starting next year. I have done all your top 10 things to do to get started. But I have to say, I’m feeling overwhelmed. There is alot of support and resources available, but it can be confusing and time consuming navigating through it all. I’m sure it will get easier. Any new endeavour seems daunting at first, till you become more familiar with it. I just hope I can do well. Thanks

  2. I agree El it is overwhelming at first - I am studying externally myself this year so I understand where you are coming from!! I’ve rearranged my desk a few times while I’ve been waiting for the semester to start! Sort of nervous but excited too.My best advice is to try to work through things methodically - and perhaps forget some of the superfluous extras until you get the hang of the website and where the course information is kept etc.Keep in the back of your mind all the positives about studying primary teaching which you have probably been working out over the years. You’ve taken this big step so congratulate yourself. Get out the diary - keep track of where you are up to, give yourself the time to do your readings etc Remember you don’t have to go it alone we have people here especially trained to get you through the tough bits (Check out Student Assist in the Blogroll) Thanks for your comment
    Good Luck Meredith
