Finding a job in Armidale …

So you’re here studying but you need some work to keep you going.
Here’s a couple of tips that you might find useful.
- Get yourself a tax file number from the ATO. You can’t get paid without one!
- Get your RSA/RCG Certificates: There’s always bar work and the majority of hotels will be looking for new people at the start of each year. Go here for more info on gaining accreditation.
- Get your Construction Induction Certificate (Green Card): you can’t work on a construction site without one and there’s plenty of other places that require it too.
- Register your interest with Services UNE Employment Service
- If you’ve worked for a national company in your home town (Coles, Woolworths etc etc) approach the local store about employment. Also talk to your current employer, they may be able to organise a transfer for you.
- Keep your eyes on the UNE Employment pages.
- And here’s a summary (via yahoo.com.au) of employment agencies in the ‘Dale.
There’s a lot of competition for work in Armidale, so dress appropriately, get a spunky resume together and start knocking on doors!
And if you need help, book an appointment with UNE’s Careers Development Officers at Student Assist
Hope this helps,
Ed
