Dear Staff and Students,

In accordance with the scheduled maintenance window procedure the change advisory board met to consider the activities scheduled and feedback received from the community regarding scheduled outage.

As a number of requests were received regarding residential schools clashing with the timeframe the scope of the maintenance activities has been scaled back to urgent activities only.

Accordingly the outage window will now occur between 06:00am and 09:00am and will no longer affect all services.

During this period the following services will be either unavailable or service levels reduced:

  1. Delays will be experienced in delivery of email.
  2. The ability to edit web pages via the Content Management System will be unavailable.
  3. Access to file shares contained on the Metz server will be unavailable. For example personal web pages.
  4. Software running on the Metz server eg SAS & SPSS will be unavailable.
  5. E-reserve will not be available

All other services will not be affected.

This event is one of a regular schedule of maintenance windows during which essential upgrades and maintenance improvements will be applied to University systems.  The schedule includes a major full day outage every quarter and a shorter outage every month.  These are scheduled to take place on the third Saturday every month and quarterly in (Jan, Apr, Jul & Oct). Times may be varied to cater for important events such as residential schools, and notices regarding the schedule of maintenance windows will be posted on the ITD Services Announcements web page before each scheduled window.

To reiterate, for this scheduled maintenance window email delivery will be impacted and a limited number of other services will be unavailable.
