Another scam email with the subject line “University of New England” and the first line of “Dear University of New England User. We wrote to you on 29 july 2008 advising that you change the password on your account …” has been received by a large number of users at UNE.

This email is a hoax. ITD will never ask you to confirm your details by email and any email to that effect should be treated as suspicious and ignored/deleted.

Attention all staff and students,

This Saturday, 16 August 2008, ITD will be performing upgrades 
on key infrastructure leading to a full systems shutdown between 05:30am and 11:00am.
As a result of this ALL internet and network based university services will be unavailable
during this period.

This upgrade is the first of many scheduled outages that will
take place once every month. These times allow ITD team members to perform numerous
improvements to University systems leading to better performing and more secure services.

To reiterate, ALL web based and network services, including access to external web sites,
will be unavailable

Time - 5:30am to 11:00am
