Facilities Management Services (FMS) wish to advise that the University has a statutory obligation to maintain an up to date register of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) in its buildings and facilities across all Campuses

As the current audits of the various types of ACM are fragmented and only made current with hand written annotations, Facilities Management Services (FMS) has engaged a firm of Consultants – Noel Arnold and Associates – to conduct a full audit of all ACMs on the Academic, Bellevue and C. B. Newling campuses.

The programme at this stage has the audit commencing on Tuesday 24 June in the Bellevue Colleges and Mary White College, with the Academic campus starting on Monday 30 June. The C. B. Newling campus will be audited on Thursday 26 June.
There will be 3 or 4 technicians on site, and the full audit is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks.

The technicians will need to access every space in each building on the campuses, and the timing of the audit has been made to have as little impact on University staff, students and activities as possible. The Technicians work is visual inspection and collection of small samples of materials (with non destructive methods) for analysis.

It is appreciated that the audit work will not be totally suitable to all University activities at all times, and FMS apologises in advance for any inconvenience that may arise.
However, the audit has to be undertaken, so your co-operation with the Technicians will be appreciated.

FMS will contact Colleges, Schools and Departments as early as possible with details of the programme of work.

All enquiries about this project should be directed to Colin Barry on phone extension 2261 or e-mail cbarry@une.edu.au.
