Email service - slow

The SAN volume the email service is using is shared with the Barney file storage system. Barney crashed last night and is currently being rebuilt. This process is utilising the majority of the SANs capacity thus email will be incredibly slow and will contiuue to be for some hours.

Sakai downtime for essential upgrade

Some UNEonline units are provisioned in a Learning Management System called Sakai.

Unfortunately we need to do an upgrade to Sakai 2.4.x to apply some patches and new tools. Following discussion it has been decided that this upgrade will occur on Tuesday 3rd June at 8.00 am.

We anticipate that Sakai will be unavailable for staff and students for approximately two hours from that time. We apologise for the disruption this may cause.

Student Admin System Outage: Friday, 23rd May (12.00 midday) to Monday, 26th May (9.00 am)

In order to upgrade our Student Administration software (Callista), the system will be unavailable from midday Friday, 23rd May to early Monday, 26th May. During this time, all functions relating to student administration (such online enrolment, change of personal details, creation of new computer accounts), will not be available to staff and students. This outage also affects internal systems, such as the Callista interface to Finance One and the Library Patron feed. Other systems, such as email, internet access, UNEOnline online teaching and e-submission will not be affected.

If you are experiencing problems accessing your units through the MyStudy tab in the MyUNE portal , please use the direct links http://olt.une.edu.au (for Blackboard units) and http://sakai.une.edu.au (for Sakai units) instead.

System Outage: Saturday, 24 May, 9.00 am – 11.00 am – many databases affected

There will be an upgrade to our Oracle database systems on Saturday, 24th May 2008. The upgrade will start at 9.00 am and is expected to be completed by 11.00 am. During this time most database systems will be unavailable, including Finance, HR and Student Admin systems, Online Teaching (Blackboard, Sakai, Esubmission) and User Registration system (such as password changes and account registrations). Email and Internet access will continue to work as normal during this outage.

Notice of Disruption to Services - Loss of Internet access

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

ITD needs to perform maintenance on its AARNet router tonight at 6:05pm.

This maintanence is expected to be for a duration of 10 minutes. Services affected will be Internet access to off campus web sites and email to off campus email accounts. During this time UNE will also be unavailable to all off campus internet users.

AARNet Link failure (Access to Internet) — resolved

Last night at 3:30am ITD’s main AARNet router failed. IT Staff were in attendance shortly thereafter and restored normal access to the Internet by 6:15am. Services affected include all internet and email access to off campus. External users would have also been unable to connect to UNEs website.
