    The Week @ Robb

    Thursday, October 12th, 2006

    Friday 13th of October
    Cross Country
Cross Country was the final event for MB and PT this year. The event was held on Sunday the 8th of October and saw a great result for both Robb men and women, with many finishing in the top 10. Congratulations to everyone who participated, the fantastic result for our College should have you all proud to be a Robber. The overall result for Cross Country saw our Robb men in 1st place and Robb women receive 2nd place.

    MB & PT Results
The MB and PT results for this year have been posted and has seen a shock result with Robb MB coming 2nd place behind D&S College. The ladies should not be disappointed however, as this is a fine result with a tough competiton all year, congratulations to all those willing and able women who gave it their all for the college, your efforts have shown to the rest of the UNE community that Robb women give as good in the sports as Robb men.
PT for this year has seen our boys finish off in 5th place, which is a fine result for our lads considering the tough and very demanding rugby schedule we have had this year.

A very special thank you must go out to all college residents and affiliates who have made these incredible results possible, without you, we would not have achieved such greatness in the UNE sporting world!!

    Rum Jungle
Saturday 7th of October saw West Court’s annual Rum Jungle event held on the lush-green grounds between North and West. The Rum contenders saw the event end as quickly as it began with West Court’s waffer thin Pando downing his brick in a record time of 11 minutes and 58 seconds…..smashing former record of 12 minutes 5 seconds.

With the Rum disposed of and ample amounts of punch still remaining, the night had just began for the revellers. After some jungle go-ers seeked a few moments of “self-evaluation” in the bathroom, the party migrated into town, where those who managed to remain upright danced the night away at Tatts. Amazingly, Rum champion Pando made it out to the pub in an upright position and with his verbal skills relatively intact.

Well done to West Court for holding a great function and thank you to all those who attended. A special mention should go out to Fiddy for polishing a brick of tea in a record time of 8 minutes, Rainsy for maintaining conciousness and finally to Kollo- for bringing back leopard print tank top and tights, such a combo has never looked so good.

Formal Dinner- Valedicts & Presidents Dinner
Tuesday 17th of October is the Valedicts and Presidents Dinner. The dinner kicks off at 6:30pm with everyone asked to be seated at 6pm sharp. Dress is Black-tie so don’t turn up in jeans or shorts!!

All residents are required to attend and those unable should inform the front office or George (Wraggie) in writting by Monday night at the latest. Excuses such as assignments or favourite TV shows will not be admissable.

    New Senior Resident Fellow
Congratulations goes out to Cary Gardiner, who has been selected as Robb College’s new Senior Resident Fellow for 2007. With current SRF Stuart Moncrieff doing a fine job in 2006, Cary will have big shoes to fill, a task we all believe he will be more than capable of achieving.

Robb College’s Resident Fellows for 2007 are currently being selected and the announcement of the positions along with the 2007 JCR President will be made during the Valedicts and Presidents Dinner.

    Project Week
The annual charity week for Robb kicks off in 2 weeks, so everyone is asked to pay their $35 for shorts and shirts into Bindi by 18th of October.
This year’s charity is for Wildlife Warriors and as a tribute to the late true Australian hero Steve Irwin all residents will be wearing khakis for the duration of Project Week.

For those new to the college, every participating resident is to wear their khaki outfit, everyday during Project Week! Obviously, this does not include when you are sleeping and taking a shower but it must be worn whenever you are awake and in public!!

It is a great week filled with fun and functions, so please get involved for this great cause!!

    Quote of the Week
“Worry is interest paid on a debt you may never owe”….so remember, you might as well stay calm and collected until the proverbial “crap” hits the proverbial “fan”.

    Tip of the Week
Keep your car floor clean by cleaning your shoes before you get in!
