    counselling

The University of New England is inviting budding psychologists and counsellors, as well as professionals in the field, to attend an information seminar at the University tomorrow, Wednesday 6 May.

The seminar will be led by a panel of experts from around the region, including a clinical psychologist, an organisational psychologist, a managerial psychologist, and two counsellors.

The organiser of the seminar, designed to stimulate further interest in the field of psychology, is Dr Jennifer Loh, from the University’s School of Behavioural, Cognitive and Social Sciences.

Dr Loh said that the seminar would provide prospective psychologists with valuable, real-life insight into what life is like as a career psychologist. “The seminar will be of special interest to those studying - or thinking about studying - psychology,” she said.

The presenters will be: Amanda Akers (Clinical Psychologist, New England Psychological Services), Catherine Hunt (Counsellor, Armidale Community Health), David G. Kocinski (Organisational Psychologist, ADF Basic Flying Training School), Maria Selvey (Counsellor, Armidale Community Health), Kylie Whitford (Psychologist, Hunter New England Health Service), and Libby Fitzgerald (Academic Coordinator, School of Behavioural, Cognitive and Social Sciences, UNE).

All interested people are invited to attend the seminar, to be held in UNE Psychology’s Paul Barrett Lecture Theatre tomorrow between 12 noon and 1 pm. Refreshments will be provided. For further information, please contact Dr Jennifer Loh on 67733027 or email mloh4@une.edu.au.
