Applications are invited for 2 Technical Officer Positions, one within Southern Beef Technology Services (SBTS) and one within Tropical Beef Technology Services (TBTS). The successful applicants will both be based in Armidale for a training/initiation period for at least 6 months. Following this, the SBTS position will continue to be based in Armidale, while the TBTS position will be relocated to Rockhampton.

 

Key duties include:

  • Provision of technical support to beef cattle seedstock businesses in relation to the application of genetic technologies such as BREEDPLAN, selection indexes, genomics and mate allocation software.
  • Provision of technical support to Breed Societies including advice to Technical Committees and Boards.
  • Delivery of extension activities including on-property consultations, email & phone support, workshop/webinar presentation and facilitation, compilation of articles for Breed Society publications and general development of technical documentation.

 

Desirable criteria for the position include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in fields of Agriculture or Science. Specialisation in genetics or animal breeding would be favourable.
  • Knowledge and experience of the beef breeding industry.
  • Knowledge of beef cattle genetic improvement technologies.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • A willingness and ability for extensive travel.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a national extension team.
  • A passion for the Australian beef industry.

 

A salary package will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.

Summary:

Commencing in early February 2012, the Graduate Health Management Program aims to produce visionary and successful health service managers for health services, by offering a complete package of training, education and career development.

Details:

Sydney Local Health District manages four public health facilities, including Royal Prince Alfred, Concord Repatriation General, Canterbury and Balmain hospitals, as well as a network of community health centres, across the inner western suburbs of Sydney.         

South Western Sydney Local Health District manages seven public health facilities including Liverpool, Bankstown, Fairfield, Campbelltown/Camden and Bowral hospitals, as well as a network of community health centres across the south western suburbs of Sydney. The rapid expansion of clinical services in the south west through the redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital and the planned redevelopment of Campbelltown Hospital to support the increasing populations in the south west of Sydney, will provide opportunities for trainees to gain experience in the management of vast capital works programs.                                  

The Graduate Health Management Development Program aims to produce innovative and successful health managers for health services, by offering a complete package of training, education and career development.

Each graduate undertakes a number of operational management placements over a two year period. Graduates also undertake a variety of learning and management development programs including a sponsored part time enrolment in the Masters of Business Administration (Health Management) course through the University of Tasmania.

Engineering Student Vacation Employment – 2011 /2012

Council’s Water Cycle Section is seeking to engage the services of an engineering student for a short period between December 2011 and February 2012 to assist with establishment of Council’s Water and Sewerage Maintenance Management System, as well as general engineering duties as required.

Background

Council is currently undertaking a significant sewerage augmentation program, which includes construction of a new sewerage scheme. Council has also recently completed construction of a 30,000ML dam, 60km of water reticulation, a new sewage treatment plant (STP), augmented two other STPs and upgraded its sewerage transportation system. To assist with programming maintenance of these new and existing works, Council has recently purchased a Maintenance Management System (MMS). Establishment of the MMS requires collection and collation of information about Council’s sewerage and water assets.

Specific tasks

The engineering student may be required to:

  • Collect and collate information on the assets installed as part of Council’s Sewerage Augmentation and Water augmentation programs. This will include inspection of the newly installed assets to obtain information on equipment installed, and determining preventative maintenance scheduling requirements from equipment Operation and Maintenance manuals,
  • Liaise with Council’s operational and professional staff and equipment suppliers to determine scheduled maintenance requirements for other water and sewer assets,
  • In addition, the position will be required to assist Council’s Water Cycle staff with other engineering
  • duties as directed.

 Project period

  • The project period will range from early December 2011 possibly up to the end of February 2012
  • The actual number of working weeks will be in the order of 12 weeks less Council’s Christmas-New Year shutdown.
  • Hours per week can be negotiated but should preferably be in the order of 25 – 35 hours/week.

Selection criteria

The person would preferably:

  • Be a student currently studying fulltime in an engineering course accredited by Engineers Australia
  • Demonstrate that subjects completed so far in their current course are relevant to the above
  • project and tasks
  • Have completed a minimum of two years of full-time study in their course
  • All applications must address the abovementioned selection criteria.

Appointment tenure

The engagement will be on a casual basis at a rate/remuneration relevant to prior qualifications and year of study in accordance with Council’s trainee wage schedule.
