Watch your downloads

Avoid a bill for excess downloads by keeping tabs on your internet usage.mouse.jpg

ITD provides all undergraduate UNE students with a generous internet download quota of 3 Gigabytes/month. All students living in colleges have an additional 1 Gigabyte/ month. This will be more than enough for academic and most private use, but students using sites like YouTube or other sites with high multimedia content can find themselves exceeding these quotas. So far ITD has not charged for excess downloads but starting this month students will be charged for excess downloads.

If you are unsure about your download quota or whether you have exceeded your limit, you can find out by going to: https://www.une.edu.au/its/proxy-usage/

If you do exceed your quota, additional downloads will be charged at $7 + GST per GB or part thereof. You will receive an email outlining details of the amount you owe plus details of how to pay. If we receive payment your internet usage will continue as normal. If however, no payment is received, ITD will disable your internet access to external (i.e. non-UNE) sites until payment is received.

UNE’s internet charging policy can be found at:

Please contact the Service Desk on ext. 5000 servicedesk@une.edu.au if you have any questions regarding your  internet quota.
