Virus alert
Prime Minister John Howard survives a heart attack
You may receive an email claiming that Prime Minister John Howard has survived a heart attack. This email is a hoax and contains a virus. The email appears to be a news story with a link to the Australian newspaper. Clicking on the link will start a download of a spyware/Trojan program to your computer.
Antivirus software such as McAfee (used on all UNE computers) will recognise the threat and block download of the spyware. However there is always a delay between the appearance of virus emails and the creation of protective anti-virus updates.
As a general precaution do NOT open any unsolicited emails and do NOT click on any links or attachments.
