iPod winners presented with prizes

The internal student winners of the iPod draw were presented yesterday with their prizes by the University Librarian, Barbara Paton, and Information Services Manager, Celia Munro.

The Library has announced the names of all the winners in the iPod draw. The names are:

  • Fathieh Douer (Punchbowl, NSW)
  • Guangshuai Huang (UNE)
  • Tranna Newman (Cranebrook, NSW)
  • Hinal Pandya (UNE)
  • Naomi Soustal (Forster, NSW)

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated in the Library Survey.

Call for eReserve Materials

Dixson Library and the Law Library are now accepting eReserve materials for 1st Semester 2010.

Please note that 27 November 2009 is the date after which we cannot guarantee that your materials will be online for the beginning of 1st Semester 2010. Please get your materials in before this date.

The procedures for submitting material for eReserve are described at

MetaSearch down Saturday, 24 October

Due to scheduled maintenance work at Latrobe University, MetaSearch and the SFX Journal Finder will be unavailable during Saturday, 24 October from 6.30 am to 7.00 pm.

Please note that this downtime will also affect links to UNE-subscribed content from Google Scholar.

New Online Tool for Language Students

lexicool.com is a directory of freely available online glossaries and language dictionaries. It is an invaluable source for translators, linguists, language students and all those interested in foreign languages. The site also contains a number of online translation tools that allow you to gain a quick idea of the content of foreign Web sites and other documents.

This site is recommended by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) of the American Library Association (ALA).

Survey Now Closed

The 2009 Library survey has now closed. Thank you to all participants. Results and our responses will be posted in a few weeks.  The iPod draw will be held on Friday 30 October, 2009 and winners will be notified as soon as possible.
