On the 1st October UNE’s subscription to Factiva will cease. Factiva is a full-text database containing Australian and international newspapers.
NewsBank is replacing Factiva and is now available for use from the Library’s webpages and catalogue.
Login to NewsBank.
What is in NewsBank? It has 160 Australian national and regional newspapers online in full-text. The start of coverage varies with each newspaper - the earliest online access begins in 1998. Please note the Australian Financial Review is not available online. Classified ads and some copyrighted articles written by syndicated columnists or freelance writers are also not available online.
There are 21 African newspapers, 37 from Asia, 16 from the UK and Europe, 11 from the Middle East and 9 from North America. International titles include Washington Post, New York Times, Mideast Mirror, The Nation (Pakistan), The Economist, The Guardian, The Times, China Daily, Bangkok Post, The Mainichi Daily News, The Jakarta Post, Mail & Guardian (South Africa), The Daily Nation (Kenya) and New Vision (Uganda).
You can email, save or print articles and export the citations to your EndNote library.
If you have any questions or concerns please call the Dixson Library Service Desk on 02 6773 2458.

The University Library’s annual review of serials subscriptions has resulted in some 35 titles nominated for cancellation, as listed at:
http://www-personal.une.edu.au/~mcook1/Cancs2009.htm
The list is published for the information of UNE researchers.
Any further recommendations for cancellation, or intervention from another School wanting to “adopt” or take up the attribution of journal titles proposed for cancellation must be directed to Heads of School or the School’s LLO, then from the HoS/LLO to the Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian Mardi Cook (mcook1@une.edu.au) by Friday, 15th August. If no correspondence is received by Friday the 15th of August it will assumed that the nominated recommendations will stand.
Please note that the second list of cancellations on the above page is the 2007 list of cancellations for this year (2008). This list is for comparison purposes only.
